Stringent Quality Control procedures

The following is an insight into the various quality control procedures adopted by the company, an important aspect of the manufacturing process which is directly related to the actual users of our product :-

  1. Visual Examination:
All the blades are checked by our well trained staff. Blades with defects like nick, feather, burr, weaviness, jag, bluntness are removed during the visual examination before the final packing.
  2. Hardness Testing:
The hardness of the blade is maintained at a minimum of 750 HV for carbon steel blades and 700 HV for stainless steel blades to achieve precise sharpness. The hardness of the blade is checked at regular intervals on Vickers Hardness Tester as per the ISO specifications.
  3. Checking of Shapes, Slot dimensions, Angle, etc.:
The shape and slot dimensions are checked on shadowgraph in accordance with the standards specified by the ISO.
  4. Performance Test:
100 mm long 5 cuts are made on chamois leather to check the sharpness of the blades. Blades with uniform cutting edge which can cut the chamois leather cleanly without pulling it, are only passed
  5. Sterilization:
The blades are sterilised at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai using the Gamma Radiation process with a minimum dose of 2.5 m rads.
  6. Bio Medical Tests:
Non-toxic, pyro-gen free and sterility tests are carried out from time to time at recognised and well reputed laboratories.
  7. Rust-preventive Measures for Carbon Steel Blades:
Carbon Steel material is prone to rust. Hence, to prevent the blades from rusting they are protected by using V.P.I. (Vapour Phase Inhibitor) paper. This paper is chemically treated to protect the blades from rusting due to the moisture inside the packing.
  8. Packing:
All the blades are individually wrapped in aluminum foil. 100 such blades are packed in a carton and 5 such boxes are packed in an outer carton. 100 cartons of 100 blades are packed in a 7 ply export worthy corrugated boxes for air consignment and 200 cartons are packed in a wooden box for sea consignment. Master packing can be changed as per customers requirements.
  9. Protection from Pilferage, etc.:
All the boxes are properly sealed with shrink films to ensure that the boxes are not tampered with after they are packed.
